A fire erupted Monday near commercial buildings and a mobile home park just south of the Riverside (91) Freeway in west Riverside, forcing a road closure.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 1:20 p.m. in the area of Buchanan Street and Magnolia Avenue, according to the Riverside Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered heavy smoke surrounding several commercial structures and in the immediate vicinity of the Sierra Pines Mobile Home Park.

No residences were immediately threatened.

Santa Ana winds were gusting over 20 mph, and smoke was billowing under and over the freeway, resulting in snarled traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Magnolia Avenue was shut down between Buchanan and Pierce Street as a public safety precaution.

As of 1:50 p.m., crews were still attempting to identify the exact source of the fire.

There were no reports of damage to structures.
