The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Thursday for the 16th time in 17 days, dropping 1.4 cents to $4.499.

The average price has decreased 16.1 cents over the past 17 days, including 1.5 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped five consecutive days, was unchanged March 2 and resumed dropping the next day.

The average price is 7.9 cents less than one week ago, 12.7 cents lower than one month and 30.4 cents below one year ago. It has dropped $1.874 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the sixth time in seven days, decreasing one-tenth of a cent to $3.079, a day after dropping one-tenths of a cent. It is 3.1 cents less than one week ago, 8.1 cents lower than a month ago and 31.7 cents below one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.937 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
