Rain and gusty winds are expected in parts of Riverside County this week, forecasters said Sunday.
Some very light rain fell over parts of the Inland Empire on Sunday morning, but Monday “appears to be the best day for precipitation,” according to the National Weather Service. ” … A deeper trough of low pressure will bring another chance of precipitation around Thursday or Friday.”
About one-tenth to two-tenths of an inch of rain were forecast at lower elevations Monday, but mountain areas could exceed a half-inch, according to the NWS.
Little or no snow is expected, with levels staying above 7,500 feet.
The Coachella Valley, Palm Springs and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning were under a wind advisory that will be in effect until 2 a.m. Wednesday, with west winds between 20 to 30 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph expected in the area.
Downtown Riverside had a high of 67 degrees Sunday with an expected low of 52. During the week, daytime highs in metropolitan Riverside, the Temecula Valley and Hemet are expected to be in the 60s, dipping into the upper 40s at night.
Temperatures in the Coachella Valley were expected to reach 82 on Sunday and drop to 58 overnight. During the week, temperatures were expected to be in the mid-to-upper 70s by day and the upper 40s by night.
