The Palm Springs Parks and Recreation Department will host a family-friendly celebration this weekend in honor of Kids to Parks Day.
The event will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Sunrise Park, between E. Ramon Road and S. Sunrise Way, city officials said.
Activities will include bike riding, skating, family line dancing, arts and crafts, water activities, pancake making and a toddler zone with sensory play.
A free swim day at the Palm Springs Swim Center, also located at Sunrise Park, will follow from noon to 3 p.m., city officials said.
Now in its third year locally, Kids to Parks Day is a nationwide initiative aimed at connecting children and families with parks and public lands through community events, according to the National Park Trust.
