A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday when he collided with a pickup truck at a Riverside intersection, where the driver turned in front of him.
The fatality occurred just before 5 a.m. at Indiana Avenue and Fensmuir Street, according to the Riverside Police Department.
Sgt. Tim Jensen said that the rider, whose identity was not immediately released, was going westbound on Indiana at an unconfirmed speed when the driver of a Toyota pickup initiated a left turn onto Indiana from southbound Fensmuir. The woman apparently did not see the motorcyclist approaching and entered the path of the victim.
Jensen said the motorcyclist slammed into the front of the pickup and was ejected onto the roadway, suffering grave injuries.
The pickup driver, whose identity not disclosed, immediately stopped.
The rider was taken to a downtown hospital, where he died a short time later, according to Jensen.
He said that neither the Toyota driver or her passenger was injured. Officers questioned but did not arrest the motorist.
The investigation was continuing, and anyone with information was encouraged to contact the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team at 951-826-8723.
