The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Thursday for the 16th time in 17 days, decreasing 1.7 cents to $4.546.

The average price has dropped 13.9 cents over the past 17 days, including 2.1 cents Wednesday, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It fell for seven consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent May 27 and resumed dropping last Wednesday.

The average price is 8.7 cents less than one week ago, 4.7 cents lower than one month ago and 32.7 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.827 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose for the second day in a row, increasing two-tenths of a cent to $3.146. It is 2 cents less than one week ago, 1.9 cents lower than one month ago and 35.6 cents below what it was one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.87 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
