The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Saturday to its lowest amount since Jan. 30, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.369.
The average price has dropped five consecutive days, decreasing 2.6 cents, including a half-cent Friday, according to figures by AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The decreases follow back-to-back increases totaling seven-tenths of a cent.
The average price is 1.9 cents less than one week ago, 10.2 cents lower than one month ago and 31.2 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.004 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped 1 cent to $3.157, one day after a streak of three consecutive increases totaling 2.9 cents ended with a half-cent decrease. It is nine-tenths of a cent more than one week ago and 2.9 cents higher than one month ago but 38 cents lower than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.859 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“It’s been four years since the national average has been this low during the summer,” according to the AAA. “This season’s lower pump prices are due to an abundance of supply in the oil market.”
