The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose one-tenth of a cent to $4.313 Friday, the fifth time in six days it had changed by two-tenths of a cent or less.

The average price is seven-tenths of a cent more than one week ago but 5.2 cents less than one month ago and 16.1 cents lower than one year ago, according to figures from the American Automobile Association and the Oil Price Information Service.

The average price dropped two-tenths of a cent Sunday, rose two-tenths of a cent Monday, was unchanged Tuesday and Wednesday and rose three-tenths of a cent Thursday.

The average price has dropped $2.06 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“As the summer road trip season winds down, local drivers are continuing to pay the lowest gas prices since 2021,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement issued Thursday.

The national average price dropped seven-tenths of a cent to $3.153, after three consecutive increases totaling 2.2 cents, including a half-cent Thursday. It is three-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 28.8 cents lower than one year ago but three-tenths of a cent more than one month ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.863 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
