A 52-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a crash in Lake Elsinore was identified Saturday.
Officers from the California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire responded to the crash around 3:30 p.m. Friday in the area of Ortega (74) Highway near Tenaja Truck Trail.
According to investigators, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on SR-74 at an undetermined speed when a 2007 Lexus IS250 heading northbound on Tenaja Truck Trail stopped at SR-74, waiting to turn left to proceed to the westbound lanes of the highway.
The motorcyclist allegedly traversed around a curve in the roadway as the Lexus turned left in front of the motorcycle and the crash occurred. The victim was ejected from his motorcycle and landed approximately 115 feet from the area of impact, the CHP reported.
Cal Fire paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. He was identified Saturday as Tyron Marchioni of Hemet, according to Riverside County coroners officials.
The driver of the Lexus did not suffer any injuries and remained on the scene cooperating with investigators. Investigators believe the Lexus driver was not impaired.
Speed appeared to be a factor in the crash, according to the CHP.
