The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Friday for the 17th time in 18 days, decreasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.574.

The average price has dropped 19.4 cents over the past 18 days, including 1.4 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent Nov. 17 and resumed decreasing Nov. 18.

The average price is 8.3 cents less than one week ago, but 5.9 cents more than one month ago and 24 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.799 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the eighth consecutive day, decreasing four-tenths of a cent to $3.022. It has dropped 7.8 cents over the past eight days, including 1.6 cents Thursday.

The streak of dropping national prices follows a four-day streak of increases totaling 2.8 cents.

The national average price is 7.2 cents less than one week ago, 2.2 cents lower than one month ago and 4.3 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.994 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
