The Palm Springs Plaza Theatre will host a one-night-only tribute concert Monday evening honoring eight cultural icons, with proceeds benefiting an organization that supports arts access and education for young people throughout the Coachella Valley.
“Palm Springs Icons” will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday at 128 S. Palm Canyon Drive, with funds directed to Arts Teach Kids.
Honorees include:
— Lucie Arnaz, Emmy-winning producer, actress and daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz;
— Michael Childers, acclaimed photographer;
— Paul Feig, director of “Bridesmaids,” “Spy” and “A Simple Favor”;
— Michael Holmes and The Purple Room, entertainer and impresario known for “The Judy Show” and reviving the Rat Pack-era supper club;
— Larry Luckinbill, Emmy-winning actor, playwright and director;
— Trixie Mattel, global drag entertainer, bestselling author and cosmetics mogul;
— Brian Ray, songwriter and longtime member of Paul McCartney’s touring band; and
— Frank Sinatra, a “Palm Springs legend whose impact on the city’s culture remains unmatched.”
The event will feature live music, video moments, storytelling and special appearances. It will be hosted by acclaimed composer, vocalist and jazz pianist Billy Stritch.
