The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Friday for the 24th time in 25 days, decreasing 2.3 cents to $4.329.
The average price has dropped 37 cents over the past 25 days, including 2.2 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped 20 consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.
The average price is 12.9 cents less than one week ago and 40 cents lower than one month ago, but 4.8 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $2.044 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“Southern California metro area average gas prices are now within five to 15 cents of their lowest levels of the year, which is great news for the record number of local residents who are planning holiday getaways this month,” Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe said in a statement.
“Wholesale Los Angeles gasoline prices are continuing to drop, which should continue the downward trend at the pump.”
The national average price resumed dropping, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $2.932, one day after the run of 19 decreases in 20 days totaling 16 cents ended when it was unchanged. It is 4.6 cents less than one week ago, 14.3 cents lower than one month ago and 9.4 cents below what it was one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $2.084 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
