Palm Springs residents were encouraged Thursday to attend a series of open houses beginning next week to provide input and ask questions about the Fire Station No. 1 modernization project.
The first open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at 277 N. Indian Canyon Drive. A second meeting is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. March 30.
“The current fire station is a class one historic building that is antiquated, not up to current safety standards and no longer fits the needs of our firefighters and growing community,” Fire Chief Paul Alvarado said in a statement. “It is imperative that we modernize and find the best location for fast and effective emergency services delivery.”
Alvarado added: “Everyone is invited to attend, learn more about the project and provide feedback. Nothing has been decided yet and community input is essential. We look forward to hearing from our residents and businesses.”
