A multi-vehicle collision Wednesday on the Riverside (91) Freeway briefly brought traffic to a standstill along the eastbound side of the freeway, though none of the motorists involved required a trip to the hospital.
The wreck happened at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday near the Van Buren Boulevard exit from the eastbound 91, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said two to three vehicles impacted in the middle lane, scattering debris across all eastbound lanes.
It was unclear what might have triggered the crash.
Riverside Fire Department crews reached the location within a few minutes and treated at least one person at the scene, but no ambulances were requested.
All lanes were shut down until 2:35 p.m., when the HOV lane was opened. CHP officers then gradually reopened all but one eastbound lane less than 30 minutes later.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
