Thousands of festivalgoers were expected in Indio Saturday for the second day of weekend two of the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, with Justin Bieber set to headline.

Bieber is scheduled to perform at 11:25 p.m. Saturday on the Coachella Stage. Other performers will include Giveon, The Strokes, Nine Inch Nails, Morat and Geese.

Country artist Kacey Musgraves was added to Saturday’s lineup and is set to perform at 4 p.m. on the Mojave Stage.

City officials unveiled this week a kinetic mural ahead of Musgraves’ upcoming album release titled “Middle of Nowhere.” The installation, located at 78550 Varner Road, was designed by visual artist Hervey Garcia and features a desert-inspired scene composed of multiple sequential frames to create the illusion of motion.

During Friday’s Week 2 headliner set, Madonna joined Sabrina Carpenter to perform two of her biggest hits, “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer” along with a new song, “I Feel So Free” from her upcoming album Confessions II.

After Carpenter assured the pop icon that she could “have whatever you want,” Madonna reminisced about the first time she appeared at Coachella, 20 years ago.

“I have a few things I wanna get off my chest, 20 years ago today, I performed at Coachella,” she recalled. “I was in the dance tent, and it was the first time I performed `Confessions on the Dance Floor Part One in America.’ That was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later in the same boots, the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, the same Gucci jacket. So, it’s like a full circle moment, very meaningful for me.”

Carpenter’s set, performed in front and atop a Hollywood-style sign dubbed “Sabrinawood,” also included appearances from actors Geena Davis and Terry Crews.

Other Friday performers included The xx, Disclosure, Lykke Li, Katseye, Sexyy Red, Swae Lee and Joyce Manor.

The festival will conclude Sunday with Karol G headlining at about 10:10 p.m. on the Coachella Stage, alongside performances by Wet Leg, Major Lazer, Young Thug, Duke Dumont, Iggy Pop and FKA Twigs.

Police reported 97 arrests during the first weekend of the festival, including 59 for drug possession, 14 for false identification and three for drug or alcohol intoxication. One arrest was for a property crime, while 20 others were classified as miscellaneous offenses, according to the Indio Police Department.

Officers also issued 32 citations for unlawful use of a disabled person placard.

Authorities urged attendees and nearby residents to report non-emergency issues such as noise, traffic and parking concerns by calling 760-391-4051.

The festival is being held at the Empire Polo Club, 81-800 51st Ave.
