A person was killed Sunday in a crash triggered by a wrong-way driver on the Riverside (91) Freeway in Corona, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 5:35 a.m. Sunday on westbound freeway at the Green River Road off-ramp, where a vehicle — possibly a black Ford F-150 pickup truck — was slowly going eastbound in the westbound lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The truck triggered a crash involving at least five other vehicles — including a big rig, the CHP said.
A Sigalert issued at 5:56 a.m. closing the westbound lanes for at least two hours was canceled at 9:25 a.m.
A representative from the Riverside County coroner’s office was called to the scene at 6:22 a.m.
A motorist who had been driving the big rig was taken to Corona Regional Medical Center for minor injuries, the CHP said.
No further information was immediately available.
