A 24-year-old woman who died when her vehicle rolled over and she was ejected on westbound state Route 60 in Moreno Valley was identified Monday.
Cheyenne Phillips, of Chino, was fatally injured shortly after 2:10 p.m. Sunday west of Day Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP, a 2014 Acura MDX being driven at a high-rate of speed was passing several vehicles in the center median shoulder when the driver lost control, resulting in the vehicle overturning numerous times, and the driver was ejected into the eastbound lanes of SR 60.
As the driver impacted the roadway, she was struck by a 2024 Tesla Model 3, who was traveling in the eastbound lanes.
Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.
An infant child who was found in the rear seat of the Acura sustained minor injuries, and the Tesla driver was not injured, the CHP said.
“Alcohol and/or drugs is an unknown factor at this time,” the agency stated.
The investigation was ongoing, and anyone who may have witnessed the collision was asked to call 951-324-7210.
