The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Wednesday for the 41st time in 42 days, falling 1.7 cents to $5.244, its lowest amount since March 10.

The average price has dropped 81.1 cents over the past 42 days, including 2.6 cents Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped 18 consecutive days, was unchanged June 8 and resumed decreasing the following day.

The average price is 12.3 cents less than one week ago and 66 cents lower than one month ago, but 83.7 cents more than one year ago.

The run of 39 decreases in 40 days totaling 71.7 cents to the national average price ended when it was unchanged, remaining at $3.847. It is 8.1 cents less than one week ago and 47.5 cents lower than one month ago, but 66.8 cents more than one year ago.

The national average price decreased 33 consecutive days, rose two-tenths of a cent last Wednesday and resumed decreasing Thursday.
