The search for a new chancellor to help shape the future of the Riverside Community College District is drawing to a close, prompting RCCD Thursday to remind prospective candidates to submit their applications without delay.
The “target” deadline for applications is Aug. 28, according to the district. There was no word on how many prospects had submitted paperwork since current RCCD Chancellor Wolde-Ab Isaac announced his retirement in January. He’s leaving at the end of December.
“The chancellor provides strategic, educational, fiscal and operational leadership for the district and works closely with the three college presidents, district executive leadership, faculty, staff, students and community partners to advance the district’s mission,” the district stated. “The chancellor, as the leader of a complex multi-college district, must maintain strong collaboration and trust across constituent groups, ensure sound fiscal stewardship, support academic excellence, workforce innovation and student success.”
The district is composed of three campuses — Riverside City College, Moreno Valley College and Norco College. It also has a significant presence at the Ben Clark Public Safety Training Center in Riverside.
“RCCD is supported by more than 3,600 faculty, staff and administrators,” according to the district. “Through certificates, associate degrees, transfer education, workforce preparation and community partnerships, RCCD plays a vital role in advancing educational attainment, economic mobility and regional workforce development throughout the Inland Empire.”

Prospects will be screened by a contract selection committee, and qualifying applicants will then undergo final review by the RCCD Board of Trustees.
