Big-name titles, including “Les Miserables,” will be on the marquee of the Coachella Valley Repertory in Cathedral City during the fall and winter seasons, it was announced Thursday.
The repertory will open its run of shows on Oct. 28, beginning with Tracy Letts’ “The Minutes,” a political satire that was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize and other awards.
Following that production will be a bevy of others, according to Adam Karsten, executive director for the nonprofit theater, located at 68510 E. Palm Canyon Drive.
“Our 2026-27 season will take us to a new level of captivating storytelling, brilliantly conceived productions and amazing music,” he said. “There will be moments of hilarity, surprise, suspense and, yes, emotional impact.”
Between late October 2026 and March 21, 2027, a total of four shows will be on stage.
After “The Minutes,” Mark Brown’s “Around the World in 80 Days” will play from Dec. 2 to 20. That will be followed by the Tony Award-winning musical “Million Dollar Quartet,” which recreates the night in 1956 when record producer Sam Phillips brought together Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley for an impromptu session at Sun Studio in Memphis. That production will run Jan. 13-31.
The internationally recognized “Les Miserables” is scheduled to close out the autumn-winter entertainment, running from Feb. 24 to March 21.
An as-yet-unannounced production is planned sometime during the spring, through the repertory’s New Works Program, according to Karsten.
“We are honored by our audience’s trust and willingness to take chances with even the less familiar shows,” he said.
