The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose for the 11th consecutive day Saturday, increasing 1.9 cents to $5.612.
The average price has risen 9.2 cents over the past 11 days, including nine-tenths of a cent Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.7 cents more than one week ago, 2.3 cents more than one month ago and $1.141 more than one year ago.
The average price has increased $1.061 since the start of the joint U.S./Israel attack on Iran on Feb. 28, which sent oil prices higher and drastically accelerated increases at the gas pump.
“Oil prices jumped to over $90 a barrel late last week but have since backed off slightly,” Kandace Redd, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s senior public affairs specialist, said in a statement released Thursday. “Continued instability in oil supply has kept prices above $4 a gallon nationally all this month, while California, Washington and Hawaii have had average prices above $5 a gallon every day in August.”
The national average price dropped eight-tenths of a cent to $4.081. It is 2.1 cents less than one week ago and nine-tenths of a cent less than one month ago, but 88 cents more than one year ago.
The national average price has increased $1.099 since the attack on Iran. It is at its highest amount this late in the calendar year, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
