Palm Springs City Manager Scott Stiles announced Tuesday that he will retire in November after serving more than three years in the role.
“Scott brought decades of experience, steady leadership and an unwavering commitment to public service to Palm Springs,” Mayor Naomi Soto said in a statement. “He helped guide our city through extraordinary challenges while moving forward important projects and investments that will benefit our residents for generations.”
City officials said Stiles secured $50 million in bridge funding following Tropical Storm Hilary in 2023, oversaw the opening of the city’s navigation center, helped advance several investments including Fire Station No. 1, and led efforts to support local businesses impacted by a car bombing at the American Reproductive Centers fertility clinic in May 2025.
Stiles started working for the city in March 2023 and has more than 43 years in public service. He will retire effective Nov. 1.
City officials will announce details about hiring process for the role at a later date.
“I am incredibly proud of what our employees, City Council and community have accomplished together,” Stiles said. “None of these achievements happens because of one person — they are the result of talented and dedicated employees, strong leadership from our City Council, and a community that cares deeply about the future of Palm Springs.”
