Forecasters predicted a cooling and drying trend early this week in Riverside County.
“We can expect to cool a few degrees each day with breezy westerly winds across the mountains and deserts each afternoon and evening,” the National Weather Service announced.
Sunday’s temperatures were expected to reach 91 degrees in the downtown Riverside area and in Hemet, 88 in Temecula and 106 in Coachella and Palm Springs, according to the NWS.
By Tuesday, temperatures were expected to reach 87 in downtown Riverside and Hemet, 83 in Temecula, 102 in Coachella and 101 in Palm Springs.
“Low temperatures will also begin to cool off through early next week as well with lows in the 50s and 60s along and west of the mountains and up in the high desert,” forecasters said.
The cooler temperatures were not expected to last long, as a warming trend is expected to take over midweek, with areas including downtown Riverside and Hemet reaching the upper 90s again by Saturday, Temecula reaching the mid-90s and Coachella and Palm Springs hitting 108 degrees.
