Below-normal temperatures are expected in Riverside County until Tuesday, forecasters said Sunday.
Sunday’s temperatures were expected to reach a high of 86 in the downtown Riverside area and Hemet, 82 in Temecula, and 100 in Coachella and Palm Springs, according to the National Weather Service.
“A cooling trend sets in beginning Sunday, with more significant cooling Monday as the low settles over Central California,” the NWS said.
Monday’s highs were expected to reach 81 in downtown Riverside and Hemet, 78 in Temecula, 98 in Coachella and 96 in Palm Springs. Patchy drizzle was also expected in areas including downtown Riverside and Temecula on Monday night and Tuesday morning.
“The cooler weather won’t prevail beyond Tuesday as the low becomes absorbed into the upper-level pattern and swings northward thanks to a massive low sitting off the Canadian coastline,” according to the NWS.
The Coachella Valley and Palm Springs are expected to be back in the low 100s by Wednesday through next weekend. During that same time, the downtown Riverside area and Hemet were expected to reach the 90s while the Temecula area was expected to reach temperatures in the low 90s the rest of the week.
