Riverside County supervisors Tuesday unanimously approved a tentative meeting schedule for 2027, designating days on which no meetings will be held.

Board of Supervisors Co-Chair Yxstian Gutierrez, who will serve as chairman next year, proposed no board meetings on a total of 28 Tuesdays — the day of the week when the board is supposed to be in regular open session.

The full board backed the plan in a 5-0 vote without comment Tuesday.

The board can always make adjustments to the schedule whenever it deems necessary and has done so in previous years.

Most of the Tuesdays when no meetings are planned generally coincide with, or immediately follow, holidays. However, five days will fall during the board’s quasi summer recess in July and August. Only four meetings are on the calendar for those two months.

A few other days were added to the list to clear supervisors’ calendars in March and April when legislative conferences are planned and religious holidays are observed. A traditional suspension of county business is also planned around Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.

There is not one month next year when four consecutive weekly meetings are planned.

Following is the list of 2027 planned “dark days”:

— Jan. 5 and 19;

— Feb. 16 and 23;

— March 9, 16 and 30;

— April 6 and 20;

— May 11 and 25;

— June 1, 15 and 29;

— July 6 and 27;

— Aug. 10, 17 and 24;

— Sept. 7 and 21;

— Oct. 12 and 26;

— Nov. 9, 23 and 30; and

— Dec. 21 and 28.

The board is on track to end the current year with 25 dark days. After the Nov. 3 meeting, only three Tuesday sessions remain for the year.
