A community pet adoption event featuring characters from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s “The Cat in the Hat” continues Sunday at a Petco store in La Quinta.
The Riverside County Department of Animal Services and Petco Love, a nonprofit organization, will offer adoptable pets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at 78720 Highway 111.
Petco Love’s “Jump into Joy!” is part of a national pet-adoption weekend that features characters from the animated film. The campaign also includes a public service announcement voiced by actor Bill Hader, who stars in the movie.
“`The Cat in the Hat’ reminds us that even an ordinary day can become something joyful. Adopting a pet brings that same sense of fun and possibility into your life,” Petco Love President Chelsea Staley said in a statement. “Pets fill our homes with love, laughter and moments of happiness we never could have imagined.”
All adoption fees will be waived, and each adoption will include spay or neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip and an engraved name tag.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to meet amazing pets, each deserving of a loving place to call home,” Mary Martin, RCDAS director, said in a statement. “We encourage the community to jump into joy by adopting your new best friend.”
