The Los Angeles Marathon has sold out for the third consecutive year and fourth time in its 30-year history, organizers announced Monday.
A field of more than 26,000 has entered Sunday’s race, marathon Chief Executive Tracey Russell said.
“Completing a marathon is the pinnacle of achievement for runners,” Russell said. “We are excited that so many have chosen to participate in thie year’s celebration and we’re dedicated to making this a great experience for all of the participants.”
The race also sold out in 2010, the first time it was run on the “Stadium to the Sea” course from Dodger Stadium to near the Santa Monica Pier.
