An airplane carrying the Los Angeles Dodgers from San Diego to their next series in Dallas was diverted to LAX “due to a mechanical issue,” a team spokesman said.

The team departed San Diego at about 7 p.m. Sunday, following their game with the Padres, Dodgers’ Director of Public Relations Joe Jareck said.

The plane was diverted to LAX after the mechanical issue became known.

“This was not an emergency landing,” Jareck said.

The team switched planes and was scheduled to depart LAX just after 10 p.m., he said.
