Yes, life can be complicated. Even trying to get a break on a Dodgers ticket is now a bit complex.

The Los Angeles Dodgers just unveiled a discounted ticket promotion – for a game weeks away – in connection with rookie outfielder Joc Pederson’s participation in Monday’s Home Run Derby.

Fans will be offered a $5 discount toward purchase of tickets in the right-field pavilion, infield reserve, reserve MVP and executive club level sections for the Aug. 2 game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at Dodger Stadium.

There will be an additional $5 discount for every round Pederson advances, for a maximum discount of $20.

The Joc Pederson Home Run Derby ticket offer will be available from 8 p.m. Monday through 5 p.m. Wednesday at dodgers.com/HRJoc.

Pederson is seeded fourth and will compete against Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado in the first round.

If Pederson wins, he will face the winner of the first-round match between Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim first baseman Albert Pujols, who is seeded first, and Chicago Cubs rookie third baseman Kris Bryant, who is seeded eighth.

The other first-round matchups pit Toronto Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson, who is seeded third, against Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who is seeded sixth, and Cincinnati Reds third baseman Todd Frazier, who is seeded second, against Texas Rangers first baseman Prince Fielder, who is seeded seventh.

The seedings were based on the home run totals through Tuesday. Pederson is tied for fifth in the National League and tied for 11th in Major League Baseball though today’s play with 20 home runs.
