The Los Angeles Rams promoted defensive back Isaiah Johnson from their practice squad to the active roster on Saturday and waived cornerback Steve Williams from their active roster.
The Rams signed Johnson to their practice squad on Sept. 5, two days after he was waived by the Detroit Lions as part of the cuts to reach the NFL’s 53-player regular-season limit.
Johnson played six games with the Lions last season, making what would be his lone tackle on the first play of his NFL career.
The Rams signed Williams on Sept. 8, four days after he was cut by the Chargers. He was not active for either of the Rams first two regular-season games.
The Rams listed starting free safety Maurice Alexander and two other players who played in Sunday’s 9-3 victory over the Seattle Seahawks as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Reserve running back Benny Cunningham and reserve cornerback Lamarcus Joyner were also listed as questionable because of knee and toe injuries.
A player is listed as questionable when it is uncertain if he will play.
Rookie receivers Pharoh Cooper and Nelson Spruce are listed as doubtful because of injuries suffered during the preseason that have kept them sidelined throughout the regular season. A player is listed as doubtful when he is unlikely to play.
Cornerback E.J. Gaines is listed as questionable because of a thigh injury suffered during the preseason that has kept him sidelined throughout the regular season.
