While the Rose Parade just a couple weeks ago wound through Pasadena streets and into millions of homes on TV, officials are already making decisions about the 2018 edition of the famed event.
“Making a Difference” will be the theme of the 2018 Rose Parade, new Tournament of Roses President Lance Tibbet announced.
“The 2018 theme, `Making a Difference,’ is a way to honor and celebrate all of the people in our communities, who quietly and without desire for reward or recognition, act in selfless, generous and kind ways to aid or benefit others,” Tibbet said.
“It’s about the human acts of kindness that enrich the lives of others and are the source of inspiration, hope, joy and optimism for all of us.”
Tibbet was confirmed as president earlier tonight by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Board of Directors. He has been a volunteer member of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses since 1980, was appointed a committee chair in 2001, a director in 2004 and was elected to the executive committee in 2010.
Under tournament tradition, the newly confirmed president announces the theme for the next parade the night he is confirmed as president.
