A former U.S. Army specialist who corresponded with Los Angeles Lakers forward Larry Nance Jr. when he was 10 years old will be honored at the team’s game Wednesday evening at Staples Center.
Bianca Campbell responded to a hand-written letter written by Nance in 2003 when she was a private. Campbell posted photos of one of Nance’s letters on Twitter on July 21. Nance responded to Campbell the next day and invited her to be his guest at a game.
The two will meet for the first time Wednesday as part of the team’s “Salute To Our Troops” program, which will also honor service members at five other games this season.
