An avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan who lost his legs during a boating accident will throw the ceremonial first pitch before Monday evening’s game against the Atlanta Braves at Dodger Stadium.

Mark Andersen had his prosthetic legs designed to reflect his love for the team. They are blue and include the team’s familiar LA logo from their caps, their ascending baseball logo used since the 1930s and the word Dodgers in script used on their uniforms.

Andersen’s legs were cut off by a boat’s propeller at Lake Nacimento in 2000, according to the Santa Maria Times.

Andersen, a resident of Santa Maria in Santa Barbara County, is throwing the first pitch in connection with the team’s Blue Wishes program, which grants wishes for fans, particularly those with life-threatening illnesses.
