One person was killed Thursday in a fiery crash on the Pomona (60) Freeway in Hacienda Heights that may have involved street racing between two vehicles, possibly at speeds approaching 95 mph, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 5:35 a.m. on the eastbound freeway near Hacienda Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported. Another person was treated at the scene for a possible injury.

Information on the identity of the fatally injured person, described only as a male by the coroner’s office, was not immediately available.

The carpool and left three lanes of the freeway were blocked while an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the crash. All lanes were reopened by about 10:30 a.m., the CHP reported.
