The 2022 MLS Cup Championship banner and last season’s players were presented with diamond-clad rings before the Los Angeles Football Club’s season-opening 3-2 victory over the Portland Timbers Saturday at BMO Stadium.

The team’s LA mark is displayed with 67 white diamonds on the ring’s bezel representing its total regular season points that led to the Supporters’ Shield title.

The crown of the ring is encrusted with 128 black diamonds in honor of Gareth Bale’s goal in the 128th minute that tied the 2022 MLS Cup against the Philadelphia Union, 3-3. LAFC won the penalty kick shootout, 3-0, for the championship.

The MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield trophies are displayed with white diamonds on opposite ring shoulders. The right shoulder presents the player’s name and number with the year of the championship.

The inside engraving of the ring features the scores of all three victories in LAFC’s MLS Cup playoff games.

The inside shank displays “Forza Mo” and the infinity symbol paying respects to Mauricio “Mo” Fascio, a founding member and vice president of the 3252 Independent Supporters Union and his ability to connect, unite and build community. Fascio died March 19, 2021, from COVID-19. He was 54.

There is a monochromatic engraving of the team’s rally cry “For Los Angeles” on the outside shank.
