A 4-year-old colt with one career race has died after suffering a training injury at Santa Anita, state horse racing officials confirmed.

Ransom Call died Sunday, the day of his last official workout, according to the California Horse Racing Board and the industry website Equibase. His cause of death was pending further examination.

He was owned by Henie Racing and trained by Cesar DeAlba. His jockey was Diego Herrera.

Ransom Call is the 10th horse to die from a racing or training injury at Santa Anita in 2024.

Racing returns to the Arcadia track this Friday after the most recent season concluded in June.
