Tom Brady said Saturday he won’t be playing flag football in the 2028 Olympics.
When asked after the Fanatics Flag Football Classic at BMO Stadium what he envisioned his role would be in the 2028 Olympics and “is it on the field,” the 48-year-old, seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback replied, “No, clearly it’s not. LA28 will be a lot of guys like you saw out there on the field trying to make a big commitment to trying to be their best and go out there and showcase their skill set in front of global audience.
“If there’s any role I can play, I’d love to. Obviously going to be supporting it. I’ll probably be at some games, but I’d love to see the American team win it all, and it’s going to be a lot of hard work that goes into it.”
The U.S. men’s national team won all three of its games Saturday at Fanatics Flag Football Classic, including a 43-16 victory over the Brady-led Founders FFC and concluding with a 24-14 victory over the Wildcats FFC, whose roster included Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels — the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner — and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, the 2019 Heisman Trophy winner.
The national team began play with a 39-14 victory over Wildcats in the round-robin portion of the event.
Against the national team, Brady completed six of eight passes for 75 yards on the 50-yard long field, including touchdown passes to Jalen Hurts, who quarterbacked the Philadelphia Eagles the victory in the 2025 Super Bowl, and Stefon Diggs, who was released by the New England Patriots this month.
Hurts played most of the 34-26 loss to the Wildcats FFC, completing 10 of 15 passes for 155 yards and three touchdown passes, two to DeVonta Smith — the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner — and one to Diggs. Hurts also ran for a touchdown.
Flag football will be making its Olympic debut in 2028, with competition for both men and women. The games will be played at BMO Stadium.
