The Los Angeles Sparks fired general manager Raegan Pebley Sunday, replacing her on an interim basis with assistant general managers Zach Knowlton and Nate Nielsen.
“We are grateful to Raegan for her leadership and commitment to the Los Angeles Sparks and women’s basketball,” team managing partner and governor Eric Holoman said in a statement.
“Her work on the Sparks roster and player experience will have a lasting positive impact on our organization. We sincerely thank her for all she has invested in the Sparks and wish her success in her next chapter.”
The Sparks are 10-11 and would miss the playoffs for the sixth consecutive year if the regular season ended Sunday. They are 39-66 since Pebley became general manager.
Pebley was hired Sparks general manager on Jan. 5, 2024, following a 21-season college coaching career, succeeding Karen Bryant, who remained in the team’s front office.
Pebley played in the WNBA in 1997 and 1998 following a college career at Colorado.
“Raegan’s a friend of mine, and I care about her,” Sparks coach Lynne Roberts told the Southern California News Group. “And this is the hard part in sports, right? But right now I’m just focused on the team.”
The Sparks are set to begin a four-game road trip Monday against the Atlanta Dream in College Park, Georgia.
