A 15-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured when a vehicle crashed into a tree in Castaic, the California Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
CHP officers responded at 4:30 p.m. Monday to Hasley Canyon Road and Sloan Canyon Road, where they found the vehicle had veered off the road and its occupants were trapped, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics pronounced one person dead at the scene and transported three others to a hospital in unknown condition, according to reports from the scene.
The teenage victim was identified Tuesday by the county Medical Examiner’s office as Esteban Gonzalez.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
