The six-day streak of decreases that dropped the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to its lowest amount since Feb. 5 ended Monday when it was unchanged, remaining at $4.588.
The average price decreased 6.2 cents over the past six days, including six-tenths of a cent Sunday, according to figures from AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It is 6.2 cents less than one week ago, 18.2 cents lower than one month ago and 19.3 cents below what it was one year ago.
The average price has dropped $1.905 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The six-day streak of decreases that dropped the Orange County average price to its lowest amount since Feb. 4 ended when it was unchanged, remaining at $4.509. It dropped 6.4 cents over the past six days, including two-tenths of a cent Sunday.
The Orange County average price is 6.4 cents less than one week ago, 17.5 cents lower than one month ago and 17.1 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.949 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“California has some real challenges coming, but we are not to see a massive spike on July 1,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations, wrote on social media.
“There’s a lot of misinformation and confusion amongst several of these issues.”
The national average price dropped for the fifth consecutive day following a run of 14 increases in 15 days totaling 10.5 cents, decreasing two-tenths of a cent to $3.185. It has dropped 4.1 cents over the past five days, including seven-tenths of a cent Sunday.
The national average price is 3.5 cents less than one week ago and 30.6 cents less than one year ago but 2.3 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.831 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
