The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose one-tenth of a cent Wednesday to $4.639, one day after a run of 12 increases in 13 days totaling 16.4 cents ended with a decrease of two-tenths of a cent.

The average price is 3.3 cents more than one week ago, 17.5 cents higher than one month ago and 3.6 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has dropped $1.854 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The 13-day streak of increases totaling 16.8 cents to the Orange County average price rose ended with a decrease of two-tenths of a cent to $4.608. It is 3.9 cents more than one week ago, 19.7 cents higher than one month ago and 7.8 cents greater than one year ago.

The Orange County average price has dropped $1.85 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose four-tenths of a cent to $3.19, one day after dropping four-tenths of a cent. It is 1.8 cents less than one week ago and 13.4 cents lower than one year ago but 4 cents more than month ago. It has dropped $1.826 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“With the unofficial end of summer now behind us, we saw the lowest national average price of gasoline on Labor Day since 2020, with prices lower than a year ago in all but three states,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations, said in a statement.

“This caps off the most affordable summer at the pump since 2021, with motorists spending $11.3 billion less on gasoline compared to last year. While summer may be in the rearview mirror, low gas prices aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, so long as we avoid major hurricanes or other disruptions, we’re on solid footing to see the national average dip to $2.99 per gallon this fall.”
