The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Friday for the 13th time in 14 days, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.697, its highest amount since June 7.

The average price has risen 8.3 cents over the past 14 days, including 1.3 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose three consecutive days, dropped two-tenths of a cent Sept. 2 and resumed increasing Sept. 3.

The average price is 5.3 cents more than one week ago, 22.7 cents higher than one month ago and 8.1 cents above what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.796 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose for the 22th time in 23 days, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.679, its highest amount since May 30. It has risen 23.7 cents over the past 23 days, including 1.6 cents Thursday. It increased 13 consecutive days, dropped two-tenths of a cent Sept. 3 and resumed rising Sept. 4.

The Orange County average price is 6.1 cents more than one week ago, 25.6 cents higher than one month ago and 13.6 cents above what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.779 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices shot up late last week after some supply fluctuations, but have dropped a bit in recent days, so the upward price trend at the pump may not last,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.

The national average price dropped six-tenths of a cent to $3.188, one day after rising one-tenth of a cent. It is 1.6 cents less than one week ago and 5.3 cents lower than one year ago but 4.8 cents more than one month ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.828 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
