The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the eighth time in nine days, decreasing eight-tenths of a cent to $4.696.

The average price has dropped 3.3 cents over the past nine days, including a half-cent Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The run began with five consecutive decreases, then was interrupted by an increase of one-tenth of a cent Monday. The run resumed on Tuesday.

The average price is 2.8 cents less than one week ago and 2.3 cents lower than one month ago but 9.3 cents more than one year ago. It has decreased $1.797 since rising to a record $6.493 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped three-tenths of a cent to $4.667, the third consecutive decrease after back-to-back increases totaling three-tenths of a cent. It has dropped 1.9 cents over the past three days, including three-tenths of a cent Wednesday.

The Orange County average price is 3.4 cents less than one week ago and 4.4 cents lower than one month ago but 13.5 cents more than one year ago. It has dropped $1.791 since rising to a record $6.458 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the 14th time in 15 days, decreasing 1 cent to $3.057. It has dropped 10.3 cents over the past 15 days, including nine-tenths of a cent Wednesday.

The run began with four consecutive decreases. The national average price was unchanged Oct. 6, then resumed dropping the next day.

The national average price is 4.7 cents less than one week ago, 12.9 cents lower than one month ago and 14.6 cents below what it was one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.959 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
