Overnight lane closures are coming this weekend to the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in Los Angeles for express lane project work, Caltrans announced Wednesday.
The installation of express lanes, which are expected to cut travel times by at least 50%, will involve construction crews closing lanes between Vermont and Central avenues on Friday and Saturday, according to Caltrans.
Eastbound lanes will be closed from Vermont Avenue to Main Street between 10:30 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday and westbound lanes will close between Central Avenue and the Harbor (110) Freeway from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday.
According to Caltrans, the first segment of the project will open in time for the 2028 Summer Olympics, “boosting regional mobility for the Games while delivering lasting benefits for everyday travelers.”
The project will add two express lanes in each direction of the freeway by converting existing carpool lanes, according to Caltrans.
