Weekend overnight lane reductions on the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in El Monte will begin Friday.

There will be no full freeway closures, but lane restrictions will be imposed to allow paving work to continue.

The closures between Valley Boulevard and the Pomona (60) Freeway on southbound I-605 are as follows for Friday to next Monday:

The southbound 605 will reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday, to two lanes from 4 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday and again to one lane from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, when all southbound lanes will be reopened.

As for ramps, the westbound 605 Valley Boulevard on-ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday; the eastbound Valley Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 605 will be closed from 7 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Monday; and the southbound 605 connector to the westbound 60 will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

There will be more 55-hour extended weekend lane reductions scheduled through 2026, according to Caltrans.
