Five people were injured Saturday when two vehicles crashed and fell about 200 feet down a San Diego (405) Freeway embankment, landing next to Woodley Park in Van Nuys.

The crash was reported at 7:03 p.m. Saturday on the southbound San Diego Freeway just south of Victory Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Video from the scene showed firefighters using hydraulic tools to free an injured man from an overturned pickup truck. A sedan was also overturned down the embankment nearby.

In addition to the injured man, the video also showed three women and another man near the sedan.

All five were taken by ambulance to hospitals for treatment, Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Jennifer Middleton said. Their conditions were not immediately available.

A witness told the CHP that one vehicle was speeding in and out of lanes before the crash. It was unclear which vehicle.

All lanes had been reopened by 9:20 p.m.
