The southbound San Diego (405) Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass will be reduced to three lanes for an extended weekend next month as crews continue work on a $143.7 million pavement rehabilitation project, Caltrans announced Tuesday.
The lane reductions will begin at 10 p.m. Oct. 2 and continue until 5 a.m. Oct. 5 between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive.
Caltrans urged motorists to seek alternate routes and consider public transportation during the work. The agency said northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway will not be reduced.
The Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 405 will be closed, along with the southbound 405 off-ramp to Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard and the Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound freeway.
The northbound 405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive will also be closed.
Residents and businesses near the construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust, Caltrans said.
The work is part of the I-405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Van Nuys and Westwood through the Sepulveda Pass. The project is intended to improve safety and mobility and extend the life of the freeway pavement.
