Motorists traveling through the Sepulveda Pass will face overnight lane, ramp and connector closures beginning Monday evening as crews continue work on a $143.7 million pavement rehabilitation project along the San Diego (405) Freeway.
The closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for K-rail installation and paving work, according to Caltrans.
Up to four northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway will be closed between Wilshire Boulevard and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive, while up to four southbound lanes will be closed between the Ventura (101) Freeway and Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive.
The northbound Getty Center Drive on- and off-ramps and the northbound 405 off-ramp to Skirball Center Drive/Mulholland Drive will also be closed.
On the southbound side, the Sepulveda Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard on- and off-ramps and the Burbank Boulevard on-ramp will be closed.
The northbound and southbound 101 Freeway connectors to the southbound 405 will also be closed.
Additional restrictions are scheduled from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26, when the southbound 405 will be reduced to three lanes between Ventura Boulevard and Mulholland Drive.
During the weekend work, the Ventura Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 405 and the southbound 405 on- and off-ramps at Valley Vista Boulevard/Sepulveda Boulevard will be closed.
The northbound 405 off-ramp to Getty Center Drive will also be closed during that period.
The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph in certain sections of the northbound and southbound freeway because of the ongoing paving work.
Residents and businesses near the construction may experience noise, vibrations and dust, Caltrans said.
Motorists were advised to check Caltrans QuickMap for current road conditions.
The work is part of the I-405 Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Van Nuys and Westwood through the Sepulveda Pass. The project is intended to improve safety and mobility and extend the life of the freeway pavement.
