Long Beach Transit announced Thursday that it will offer free rides on all its bus routes on Election Day, Nov. 3, to help residents get to polling locations.
The complimentary service will be available throughout the day on all regularly scheduled bus routes, according to the transit agency.
Long Beach Transit will also provide free rides for eligible customers of its Dial-A-Lift program, a curb-to-curb, shared-ride paratransit service for people with qualifying disabilities who cannot use the agency’s regular bus system.
The agency said the free rides are intended to reduce transportation barriers that could prevent residents from voting.
Long Beach Transit operates bus service in Long Beach, Carson, Lakewood, Paramount and Signal Hill, along with portions of Artesia, Bellflower, Cerritos, Compton, Downey, Hawaiian Gardens, Los Alamitos, Norwalk and Seal Beach.
Passengers can plan their trips by visiting ridelbt.com or calling the agency’s Customer Care team at 562-591-2301.
