A child was shot and killed in Compton Tuesday night and authorities are searching for two men in connection with the shooting, a sheriff’s sergeant said.
Deputies were dispatched at 6:58 p.m. to the area of East San Marcus Street and North Holly Avenue on a report of several shots fired, said Sgt. Ulysses Cruz of the sheriff’s Compton station.
Paramedics rushed the child to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood where the child was pronounced dead, Cruz said.
The child’s gender was not immediately known. He or she was believed to be 3 months to 1 year old.
